Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc) in Dialysis Technology – Three-Year Degree Program
Dialysis Technology is a specialized branch within the field of nephrology, focusing on the treatment of patients with kidney failure. Dialysis technicians play a crucial role in supporting such patients by operating and maintaining dialysis machines, which remove metabolic waste and excess fluids from the blood through hemodialysis.
Program Highlights
Dialysis is a medical procedure that performs the vital functions of the kidneys when they are unable to do so. It involves the removal of waste products (via diffusion) and excess fluids (via ultrafiltration) from the bloodstream. Individuals with damaged or non-functional kidneys rely on dialysis to maintain their health.
The three-year B.Voc program in Dialysis Technology equips students with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on training. The curriculum includes:
Fundamentals of dialysis and principles of dialysis procedures
Basic medical sciences related to kidney function
Fluid and electrolyte balance
Hematology and infectious diseases
Dialysis equipment and systems operation
Vascular access techniques
Blood chemistry and complications of renal failure
Psychosocial aspects of patient care
Introduction to peritoneal dialysis and renal transplantation
Students will gain practical skills in operating, inspecting, and maintaining dialysis machines. In addition to technical training, the program covers essential medical subjects such as human anatomy, physiology, renal pathology, and associated systemic conditions.
